The short answer
Clean panels every 4–6 weeks in harmattan and monthly in the dry season, check that the inverter's fan vents are clear, look for loose or browned cable lugs, and confirm the battery's state of charge reaches 100% on sunny days. Book a professional check-up once a year.
Panels
Harmattan dust can cut output by 20–30%. Rinse with clean water early in the morning or evening, never with soap or a pressure washer.
Inverter and batteries
Keep the inverter room ventilated. Check the battery reaches full charge on clear days; if it doesn't, the panels may be dirty or shaded.
Rainy season
Check that the surge protection device indicator is green after storms and that the earth connection is tight.
