The problem

In rural Nigeria, harvests spoil for lack of cold storage, and milling and processing run on diesel engines or don't happen at all. Farmers sell raw produce quickly and cheaply, lose part of what they grow, and pay heavily for fuel whenever they do process.

How it works

The Betapawa AgriHub is our agro-processing innovation powered by solar. It brings solar cold storage and DC-powered milling machines together where crops are grown, so farmers and processors can preserve their harvest, turn it into higher-value products and sell when prices are right, without depending on diesel or the grid.

Solar cold storage

Cold storage running on solar keeps perishable produce fresh for longer. That cuts post-harvest losses and gives farmers time to sell at better prices, instead of selling everything at harvest.

DC-based milling

Our milling machines run directly on DC power from the solar system. With no conversion to AC in between, more of the solar energy goes into milling.

No fuel to buy: solar powers both cooling and processing.
Storage and processing close to the farm, cutting transport costs and losses.
Farmers keep more of the value of what they grow.
