The problem
Millions of Nigerians in rural and peri-urban communities live beyond the grid, or on a grid that rarely delivers. They spend heavily on kerosene, candles and petrol generators, and have little or no access to credit, insurance or savings.
How it works
BetaPod is a containerised solar power station: built as a complete unit, delivered to the community and connected to its homes and businesses. A single BetaPod supplies clean, solar-powered electricity to 500 households, with every connection metered and monitored over IoT.
Pay only for what you use
Our Pay-As-You-Go model means customers pay for the energy they actually consume, at an average of ₦350 per kWh. There is no large upfront cost, no fuel to buy and no generator to repair, so reliable power becomes affordable for every household.
One app for power and money
- Track consumption and spending as it happens.
- Top up and pay straight from the phone.
- Access digital products and services in the same app.
From energy access to financial access
We use AI to analyse consumption patterns and match customers with partners who provide integrated value-added services such as loans, insurance and asset financing. A household's energy payment record becomes a track record that opens the door to the financial services the last mile has been locked out of.
